Tomeka Merriweather

Health Promotion Specialist

Tomeka Merriweather is currently working as a Health Promotion Specialist in the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo. In 2007, she earned her bachelor's degree from SEMO in health management with an emphasis in health promotion. While attending SEMO, she was named Health Promotion Major of the Year. Tomeka has interned at the American Cancer Society and helped with their efforts to raise cancer awareness in the community. She has also worked with the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" campaign in Cape Girardeau and developed educational materials that focused on women's heart health. She has also been involved with the Southeast Missouri Health on Wheels (S.H.O.W. Mobile) project, which educates disadvantaged residents from selected rural communities about disease prevention.
