Clean Air St. Joe


Clean Air St. Joe promotes the right of all citizens to breathe clean, smoke-free air and live free from addiction to tobacco products. Clean Air St. Joseph emerged from the Northwest Tobacco Use Prevention Coalition, which began in the Spring of 1994. Having held continous monthly meeting for 14 years, this group has...

  • provided tobacco prevention education in the schools;
  • sponsored Great American Smokeout events;
  • hosted cessation train-the-trainer trainings;
  • educated the public about youth access to tobacco products;
  • presented at Chamber, Roatary Club, & Lion's Club meetings;
  • brought in national speakers;
  • presented at national conferences and regional workshops;
  • collected and analysed health and economic data;
  • promoted worksites to voluntarily go smoke-free;
  • recruited over 500 supporters through signature drives;
  • recruited schools to participate in Smokebusters;
  • supported youth in attending national summits;
  • developed media messaging;
  • and
  • recruited and trained media spokespersons.
