Healthier Valentine's Day

COLUMBIA - Several MU organizations were at the "Kiss Me, Just for the Health of It" wellness event Wednesday.

"Kiss Me, Just for the Health of It" is not only a pre-Valentine's Day delight, but the theme of a student wellness fair on the MU campus. Several MU organizations sponsored the free event.

The fair focused in an interactive way on health awareness and smoking. Students visited booths where wellness groups informed them of various health and wellness issues.

Health screenings were also available, for testing blood pressure, bone density and sun damage.

"The sun damage test had a huge impact on my thought process, maybe because my results weren't what I was hoping for," MU student Laura Merritt said. "But who knew they are pretty serious how important sunscreen is, so I will be putting on sunscreen a lot more frequently now. No more tanning. I'd like to age gracefully."
